Latin Name: Juglans regia

Origin: Europe

Character: Rarer than most European walnut, this coarser grained, highly figured wood is of a very high quality. A warm, grayish brown with swirls of darker brown streaks ranging from black brown to charcoal. The figuring is consistent and dramatic throughout the grain.

Working Properties: Finishes to a smooth, hard lustrous surface. Takes a high polish and turns well.

Uses: Fine furniture, cabinetry, decorative veneer, boxes, specialty items.
