Latin Name: Khaya ivorensis

Origin: Africa, West Tropical

Character: reaches 120 or so feet, with a very wide trunk of up to 5 or 6 feet. The tree has a light brown sapwood, close to the heart in color. The tree color turns dark brown with exposure and is a beautiful brownish to dark brown color. The timber is cut in plane, riff and quartercut  boards. Some trees are called curly, blistered, rosebud, variegated, and  lustrous. The outer 16 to 18 inches of the trees usually have this characteristic. The wood glues well and is good for turning and carving.

Uses: Fine furniture, cabinetry, carvings, turnery, veneers, table tops, handles, specialty items, kitchen utensils and flooring.

Dimension: 4/4 to 12/4 with some limited 16/4, we have 4" to 18" in width, lengths are form 4' to 20'
