Component description for Olivewood Table Base and Two Tops

Olivewood Table Base

1. The table base holds the two tops that fit in place on the base. The table base is of French Olivewood with

wood inlay of Snakewood from Suriname. The circle inlay is 22k gold and the semi-precious stone is Lapis

Lazuli.

2. The top has 17 (½ inch) circles each of 22k Gold and Lapis lazuli. The 8 panels in the lower base has 6
(1 inch) circles each of 22k gold and polished Lapis Lazuli for a total of 48 lower circles.

3. The French Olivewood is from the South of France. The Snakewood in the form of an X on the inner top and

on lower panels were imported from Suriname in South America. There is wood inlay is on each side of the

Snakewood inlay on each lower panel.

4. The Gold and Lapis Lazuli circles are inlaid on raised panels on the lower part of the table. The woodwork is

very special. The cabinet work was done by Ole Olson, Master cabinet maker in Baltimore, Maryland.

5. There are 8 inserts of Russian Apple Green Jade over and under each column.

Finish Table Top and Backgammon Board (on opposite side)

1. The Finish top is made of book matched French Olivewood panels. The opposite side of the finish tabletop

is the Backgammon Board. The board points are made of Snakewood and Leopardwood both from

Suriname. The background is made of London Planetree from Hyde Park in the city of London. The

backgammon board when in place is regulation height.

2. Each of the species of wood is separated by 2mm 22k gold. There are 24 dots of 22k gold approximately

5/16 inch in diameter above each point.

3. Accessories (additional to base cost) are the player’s chips of Black Jade and White Jade. The gaming

cubes are made of Lapis Lazuli with Gold numbers. There are two sets of engraved Ashtrays and Glass

Holders in 14k Gold. A leather carrying case is available for the top in reserve.

4. The player areas are lined with the finest leather and each area is complemented with gold tooling in a true

classical design.

Chess Board Top and Card Top (on opposite side)

The Card and Chess Top fits into the base at regulation height for the games. The wood is French Olivewood. First we present the Chess Board, a marvelous work of art. The black squares are of Gabon Ebony from Gabon in Africa, absolutely the best ebony in the world. The red squares are of Pink Ivorywood from South Africa. This wood is Royal timber protected by the kings of the tribes in South Africa. There is a ring around the Chess Board crafted out of Rose of the Mountain from the Northern Mountains of Guyana in South America. This wood is of the rarest in the world. It is cut by the Amerasian Indians very selectively as it is revered as spirit wood by them. It was carried out some 200 miles on the heads of the Amerasian Indians that cut it. There are 4 Lapis Lazuli and 22k gold 1 inch circles. These are complemented by the Pink Ivorywood squares at each corner.

4. The player areas are lined with the finest leather and each area is complemented with gold tooling in

a truly classical design.

Surrounding the Card Top is a ring of the Rose of the Mountain wood with Gabon Ebony at the corners.

The Rose of the Mountain timber is also known as Black Rose, as when the log is cut across at the end there appears a Black Rose.
